Lead generation is a promise-keeping business

A "lead" is a person who raised their hand expecting a competent response. Campaigns get the hand raised; what happens in the next five minutes decides whether the spend was investment or donation.

Design the offer first

  • Specific beats generic: "Get your roof inspected this week" outperforms "Contact us".
  • Risk reversal wins: free audits, fixed quotes, guarantees — lower the cost of saying yes.
  • One offer per funnel. Mixed intent produces unmeasurable pipelines.

Capture without friction

  • Ask the minimum to respond well: name, contact, one qualifying question.
  • Forms and click-to-call both tracked; mobile journeys tested monthly.
  • Instant confirmation with a human expectation ("we’ll call within one business hour").

Qualify and route

Add one or two qualifying inputs (service needed, timeline, area) and route leads accordingly — sales-ready to the phone, early researchers to nurture. Treating every lead identically offends both extremes.

Speed-to-lead: the multiplier

Contact rates decay fast — leads reached in five minutes convert at multiples of leads reached an hour later. Engineer it: instant notifications, backup routings, after-hours auto-response that books the callback.

Feed the loop

Every lead gets an outcome tag (qualified / not / closed / value). Weekly, that data flows back to campaigns so optimization runs on quality, not cost per contact. This single habit separates accounts that improve from accounts that churn.
